Key scripture: Acts 12:1-11
At what point did you realise you were sitting right in the middle of a fulfilled promise?
God's promises are seldom what we imagine them to be. Like scripture says; "my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are my ways your ways"..
Our idea of the promise is often different
from the reality of it.
Case in point: the Israelites idea of bread from Heaven in the wilderness, being Manna (a whitish substance) which they had to cook themselves before consuming...
I was scruffling through my old books and stumbled upon a journal where i wrote down prophecies and teachings, took it out and started going through the notes and realized so many prophecies given me had been fulfilled and i didn't even realize it.
I was so preoccupied with the "What Next's" of life that i couldn't see the different areas at which God had moved in my life already.
So many miracles and encounters go unnoticed all cause we have our eyes set on our own fantasies, or are totally lost in the cares of this world.
We pray earnestly for things and when they happen we either don't see it or feel bamboozled by it.
Taking Peter as a case study;
He prayed earnestly for his release from prison alongside other disciples, got an angelic visitation and didn't realise it.
The Angel of the Lord promptly showed up, took him by the hands and led him through tight security gates whilst he was still asleep(spiritual slumber)
He didn't see(understand) his miracle until He had gotten out of the city gates. Then it dawned on Him what God was doing this whole time..
Peter engulfed by the happenings around him was too blinded to spot the fulfilment of the promises made to him and the answers to his prayers that It took the divine intervention of the Holy Spirit to awaken him up to it.
Just like Peter, we are either too preoccupied with the hustle of life, being molested by the government policies of whatever country you live in, dealing with peer pressure, mental disorders, joggling between being a Mom and a Wife while maintaining a nine-five job, etcetera etcetera..
What if we took some time off all that noise and have a time of reflection?
How about we take 30mins off the 24hrs we've been given to sit with the Holy Spirit and have a moment of meditation while He takes you through all that He has done and is doing in this season?
There are certain moves of God that only He Himself can awaken you to.
Now i ask again, how many of God's prophecies or promises are you living in unbeknown to you?
