Memory Verse With Explanation

Genesis 17:17 NIV‬
[17] Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?”

Are you always in control of things or do you simply have anxiety?
We are always up to one thing or the other, trying to play god by wanting things done the way and time we want it done.
Never taking a rain check on anything, wanting something new right after achieving the one we've been praying about.
Ignore the law of sabbath cause money must be made?
Settle for counterfeits cause anxiety has us thinking God is too slow and needs our help hastening things up?
We live in a world of instant gratification.
Father Abraham and Mother Sarah are a clear case study of humans inability to wait for God's appropriate time.

God came in the cool of the day and made Abram a promise of a child. Sarai laughs upon hearing this promise because? "I am too old to bear a child dear God"
One would think Sarai would leave it alone but no. Neither Sarai nor her husband were in total faith as they thought they were.
See the moment you enter into rest as regards God's promise to you you will know. One of the clear signs of your belief in God is being able to rest despite not receiving the promise. Faith is resting in God's promise knowing that he who promised is faithful regardless of what the situation might be visibly.
So Sarai decided to help God as she thought him slow or blind for not being able to see that she was passed child bearing age.
Anxiety couldn't let her breefffff!(breathe) It held her so tightly by the neck that she came up with a perfect plan: "Let's get Hagar to sleep with Abram so she can conceive a child and Abram's lineage would be preserved that way". Lil miss fix it! and Boom!! a beautiful counterfeit was created.
Sarai soon started seeing shege banza(hell) in the hands of Hagar based on "i am the *Woman* of the house as i have a child for our husband ma you don't, ma can't you see i am pregnant i can't do much work o, why not cook the food yourself? Well it's not like you can relate cause you've never been pregnant before, even miscarriage you haven't had.(Annie Chris's translation of Gen 16)
Realising the disrespect she was getting from her servant she cried out to her husband seeking for vengeance from God who didn't ask for her help in the first place.
Exhausting all options of trying to play God, they finally rested. But their rest was not in belief but unbelief still.

God returns after 20 years to fulfil the promise He made them, i am certain it took that long cause they just refused to let go and let God just like us you see?
(Kingdom spouse kingdom spouse, you open tinder and every other match-making app thinking you'll find him there but ended up with Ishmaels who sucked you dry. You have binged watched every fake prophetic videos about Kingdom spouses on YouTube, typed a million Amen and left a dozen emoji yet nothing. You've joined all the bridal trains you could find and bought aso-ebi like you're dealing in fabrics yourself yet you haven't met "The one". Every comment session of trendy influencers you're there seeking kingdom spouse, you even joined new generation concert sorry i mean church just so you can find him but miss lagbaja nothing for you. Aunty Sarai why not rest and let God?)

When God mentions to Abram that it was time, he responded by saying "my body is now dead God how can i possibly have a child at this age or how can my wife who is long passed her menopause conceive?"
You see Abram! What is impossible for you is possible for God.
You punish yourself thinking life is over for you because you have PCOS,sister are women who have pcos not birthing babies daily? Is there anything too hard for God?
You keep applying for jobs and getting rejected brother what if the company that would employ you is yet to be founded and the founder is you who has zero capital for a multi-million dollar company vision? Is there anything too hard for God i repeat?
Deadlines are closing up on you on all corners yet no financial breakthrough and you have done everything within your power, sir just rest and let God.
One reason God leaves us to ourselves when we're being performative is cause he wants us to exhaust all our options.
The door to the supernatural only opens up when the natural becomes obsolete. God is patient enough to allow you perform all your abracadabra before he steps in and steals the show.

The moral lesson of today's verse is: nothing is impossible for God, not even Abram's "dead living body" God does not share his glory, when he's done, you'll know this can only be the hand of God.
There was a reason Jesus didn't heal Lazarus instead he raised him from the dead. Healing wouldn't have done much for the unbelievers to prove the supremacy of our God only resurrection could. Mortals can heal but only God can bring a dead thing back to life. That's the difference between God and humans.
Stop all the activities you're doing and rest in the Lord your God.
There's nothing you can do to help God, i wish i knew this sooner, maybe i would have saved myself from tons of mistakes I'd made in my faith walk. I would have also saved the energy i exhumed and diverted it to something meaningful.
God does not need your input in the fulfilment of the promise he made you. All he needs is your complete faith in him.
Be and let him Do! this was one of our episodes on the woman in waiting podcast. By the way if you aren't tuned in to our podcast show by now i wonder what you're listening to exactly? It airs on Amazon music, Apple Podcast and Spotify with the title Woman in Waiting under religion and spirituality.
So next time Abba makes you a promise, aunties and uncles get your pillows and rest!! Don't try to fix things and don't try to create your own idea of what you think he said.
Just zukwuanike!!!!!(Rest)
Shalom.

Matthew 9:16-17 NIV‬ [16]  “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. [17] Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”  In this japa(migration) era a lot of content creators have made fortunes off creating migration contents as most Nigerians are either relocating or planning to relocate. If we're being honest out of every 10 friends or family we've heard at least 8 of them speaking enthusiastically about migrating so this isn't news to any of us now is it? But one thing that caught my eye in recent times about this Japa virtual content is the number of views they get per post. I.e "How i relocated to Canada = 200k views in 6days from an account with less than 1k subscribers Ahhhh!! What can they po...

Matthew 6:25-26 NIV‬ [25]  “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? [26] Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Since i was born and now i am getting old never have i seen or heard that rats lost weight as a result of food inflation. I have never heard that wall geckos ever ran out of supplies to the point of carrying placards to protest before God. I haven't also seen where wild animals in the jungle like lions and crocodiles ate weeds. They always had their supplies undisrupted.  Animals who were created less than us have since creation been provided for how much more you and i who were made in God's image and likeness? Impatience is not what we suffer from as humans but trust issues is. We fear what...

John 13:26-27 NIV‬ [26] Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. [27] As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”  PART ONE: THE BETRAYER If you live long enough you'll experience the worse kind betrayal that comes from people who are members of your inner circle. One thing about betrayals is that it always comes from people you break bread with. There's a Nigerian proverb that says "Na rat wey dey inside dey tell rat wey dey outside say food dey"(the snitch is always from someone within) I wish it was an outsider, we won't feel as much pain as we do when it comes from someone trusted. I have had people who i broke my back showing up for turnaround to stab me in the worst possible way ever. I wept for months unending, didn't get clo...
