[1] Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
One of the hardest things to do as believers is surround yourself with unbelievers.
When the storm hits? You'll realize how alone and naked you are with no one to clothe you. When the bible specifically said do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers it wasn't speaking to married couples alone.
Tell me! how are you going to speak in tongues when trouble hits whilst being surrounded by people who have not the slightest clue what praying in tongues is and when you do it they call it gibberish?
How do you put faith into practise when you find yourself in the midst of people who tells you Jesus isn't real and he never existed?
How do you discern God's voice when the voices of the naysayers you call friends, family, colleagues are the loudest in your head?
Blessed are they who do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly: Simply put you're blessed when you don't align yourself with people who do not believe in the God you serve enough to be influenced by them.
An ungodly person is anyone who does not believe nor do they have the fear of God. Yet in today's world we are told to be woke, respect everyones belief and keep it moving, be liberal and don't judge anyone but be open to new ideas. Be open to new ideas you say? Even ideas from atheists,pagans,satanists and what have you?
It is only in this world you see lions and antelopes walking together all in the name of friendship. You see light and dark shaking hands like nothing is going on yet you wonder why nothing is going well for you?
You wonder why the Holy Spirit no longer speaks to you and why you're always confused?
Have you seen a man who has a lot of weight tied all around his body asking why he's drowning in a river?
Do you know that who you sit with has your ears and can easily influence you?
You claim to be a believer but your best friend is a worshipper,what do you both have in common? You run into a problem then go to that so called best friend to seek advise how? How can someone who is the opposite of you direct you on affairs of a kingdom they are not conversant with?
You're blessed when you do not stand in the way of sinners: Who is a sinner? A sinner is anyone who isn't submitted to God's authority and rulership over the earth.
This christ like life is a life of total submission to God, yet your mentor tells you it's okay to not follow or believe in God all the time and you don't see that your mentor has an agenda of his own? You hang around these people everyday all in the name of favours or wanting to belong and you do not feel the need to leave the table when your God isn't revered? You stay there kiekieking under their mentions or in the group chat or on a physical table. Sir ma you are an endangered specie who consciously exposes themselves to their predators.
What have you both in common? Do you know you smell like the company you keep?
There's an adage that says "Goat wey follow dog go chop sh*t las las"(a goat who frequently flocks around dogs would eventually eat feaces)
You're are blessed when you do not sit on the seat of the scornful: A scornful person is one who makes jest of things or people. They show no regard or respect towards others and are quick to make mockery of everything they say or do.
Ever been around people who mock men of God for a living or who constantly talks down on other people before you? Well i have and i would also join in the fun because they are fake prophetsuntil the Holy Spirit cautioned me "A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand".
It was all fun and games till they started mocking me too. I wish that was all they did but they called me a fool to my face. They spoke so ill of Jesus and said the Holy Spirit doesn't exist. This hurt me badly because i am a living witness to his power at work in me. I began to second guess everything i had ever done and every word i had ever gotten from God, i equally thought the spirit of deception was at work in me so i became very sad and downcast. What did this do to me? It gave the enemy a chance to come at me with full speed telling me the voice i had been hearing was the liar while he the liar was the truthful one.
How did i end up being attacked this way? I badly wanted to be accepted by people so much so that i didn't realize they were making mockery of God and everything he stood for. They claimed they were attacking fake prophets till they got to the bible and Jesus and my precious HOLY SPIRIT.
They made a habit of talking down on people they were either threatened by or didn't like. Everyday there's a gist about somebody and i resented it so much. My heart began to hurt, i was grieving the spirit in me so i knew it was time to not only leave the table but break it completely.
The devil has one goal and it is to KILL to STEAL and DESTROY!!! He is not your friend, he has nothing to offer you,he is only after your submission to Christ. Haven't you heard that you're either a team God or team Satan? There's no in between in this race. You either stand for the truth or fall for lies.
Why are we falling for lies? Why are we seated on the seat of these people and think it cool?
We were called to influence the world not be influenced by the world so what are we doing?
Have you seen how muslims fight so hard to keep the infidels out? Not endorsing their extreme behaviours but can you see how devoted they are? Only Christians are lukewarm and think it's the new high.
We were placed on earth to be Jesus' witnesses not the enemies. How can you defeat a system you're benefiting from? Did you get so hungry that you went into the camp of the enemy to seek a meal? How can you serve two masters at the same time and expect the other not to walk away?
Yes we came for the sinners but we deal with them with wisdom. That i love an HIV patient does not mean i would expose myself to their virus, i walk in love with social distance, I have to protect myself always.
I'll leave you with so many questions to sit with. Who is your friend? Whose company are you in the midst of? Who has your ears?
