Amos 3:7 NIV
[7] Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.
As a parent we do know that sometimes it's best to not reveal our plans or secrets to our children lest the whole community hears.
So this one time i was minding my business one beautiful Saturday morning at my cousin's residence when i heard my nephew screaming my age to all his friends and their parents downstairs during playtime. Yes!! i was embarrassed but at the same time i understood that he was just being a child. I cautioned him but cautioned myself twice as much because i knew better but didn't do better. Well if it is any consolation his friend also told us they were relocating while mummy and daddy decided to keep it hush hush because of enemies in human form according to Africans.
We just know by default that there are certain things you can't tell children cause asides broadcasting it to the whole world they'll never let you rest, mostly if it's an outting or a promised gift. We take them by surprise to avoid being taken by surprise ourselves.
But you see our Heavenly Father is not like that, on the contrary it is a thing of joy for him to reveal his plans to us his children.
Whether it is an impending danger like the Rain of destruction in Gen 6-9 or a redemption from captivity like Isa 60 till the end.
Today's scripture talks about how God does nothing and i mean absolutely nothing without revealing his plans to his servants. Servants here means devotees or prophets, or his children in this walk with Christ.
God our father delights in giving his children the solution to tomorrow's problems today.
There's a song that says there's a sound that preceeds every move of God. What that means is just like Elijah saw the signs that there was about to be an abundance of rain, and hurriedly made his way to Jezreel in time before the rain began, we too can see the signs before every move of God.
In Amos 3, the prophet talks about the doom that had being proclaimed upon the rebels of Israelite and how God has come to avenge their disobedience. He then proceeds with this scripture saying everything happening now has been foretold so no one should be surprised when it happens. Prophet Jeremiah and Ezekiel made it their mission to warn them about this.
God is merciful enough to warn us about dangers ahead or prepare us for the harvest ahead. It is not his will that every one of us perish but that we all come to repentance.
God is nothing like humans who catch you by surprise, everyday he teases you with the good stuff, he tests you with little blessings or sufferings here and there just to build your stamina for what is about to happen next.
Nothing just happens to us as believers, if you are a devoted child of God who sits at his feet meditating upon his word day and night he will reveal things to you.
For some of us it's being revealed through dreams, for others seeing same scriptures in different places all at the same time, or if you're someone who feels their way through things your heart would begin to minister to you about something that is set to happen(you can either feel joy welling from the inside or feel sorrow deep within you that you can't place) As for the prophets, they hear it spoken directly from God to their ears(these ones are mature in their walk with Christ and can tell you what is about to happen next and would be 100% accurate as they are God's mouthpiece here on earth)
God doesn't delight in burdening you with the what nexts of life but He gives you cues on how to better handle them. He gives you the key for a future lock in an entirely different season. When you get the key, if you're not sensitive in the spirit you'll throw it away as it often isn't in alignment with your current situation.
Tip: next time you get a word or a message out of no where be sure to write it down whether it is in alignment or not. That is God giving you a prophecy against the future. Like Habakkuk 2:2-3 says write down the vision.
We all have the ability to hear God for ourselves just so you know. What differentiates you from that pastor you're always running to is their ability to consecrate themselves to God totally.
