Genesis 2:5-6 NIV
[5] Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, [6] but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.
This scripture can be explained in two forms;
1: God's rain being his Grace
2: God's rain being promise/provision
GOD'S RAIN BEING HIS GRACE: Case in point Moses and the red sea.
We have heard that the word of God is as powerful in our mouth as it is in God's mouth, what is even more powerful is what God does with our words.
When faced with trying times, you're encouraged to use your words to break the yoke. A verse in Galatians 5 says with the sword of the Spirit(the word of God)we extinguish the fiery darts(lies) of the enemy.
References have been made to how potent our confessions or declarations are.
God hasn't sent the rain(his power) because there was no man to work the ground(to speak forth a word over that situation)
When faced with challenging situations, either health issues, marital problems, or lack in whatever form, we the children of God are expected to lift up our staff just like Moses did, staff is symbolic for the Word of God. When there's no lifting, then there's no pouring down of God's power. The red sea only parted when moses lifted up his rod.
The Power of God needs the words of man to be stirred into action. This is why prayer is very important in the life of every believer.
Not just casual words but faith filled words. This is your ticket to stir the heavens to release forth the rain of miracle that changes your situation. Until the staff is raised God would not move. Like he said to Moses, why are you crying out to me? Raise your staff and the Sea would part. Raise your words and the Kingdom of heaven would back it up.
GOD'S RAIN BEING HIS PROMISE/PROVISION: A perfect example for this is the children of Israelite in the wilderness.
While they wandered around the wilderness they neither sowed nor reaped anything yet were fed manna pending when they got to the land flowing with milk and honey.
They were being sustained in a season of drought for as long as it took them to get to the season of rain.
Another perfect example is Elijah and the Waterbrook 1 Kings 18 till the end.
During the season of drought, Elijah was fed by God mysteriously till they saw the rain.
This can be you being in-between shelters or jobs, a period of spiritual drought where you can't pray due to unforseen circumstances, or financial incarceration. God will always have a way of taking care of you till things gets sorted out.
For those who are in a waiting season in absence of the promise, God is merciful enough to not leave you hanging in there by yourself without sending support(the stream that came from the earth to water the surface)This could either be: Strength to hold on when you're completely burnt out, giving you hope to persevere under severe trials, a team of support when you are mentally or spiritually depleted, Joy in a period of despair etc.
God hasn't answered that prayer yet not because he hates you like you think nor because he is slow to keep his promises. Rather he is careful not to because you aren't fully equipped to step into all that he prepared for you. In the meantime he will supply all you need to go by pending when the time is fully ripe.
Shalom!!
