Genesis 2:24 EASY‬ Because of this, when a man marries, he leaves his father and his mother. Instead, God joins the man and his wife together. The two people become as one body. We've heard this scripture quoted a million times by marriage counsellors or Pastors at wedding ceremonies, so much so that we can quote it word for word.  Something about this scripture gives us butterflies in our bellies and sends a tingly sensation down our spines as females if you know what i mean *smiles sheepishly* For the men it is a license to claim ownership over his wife's body and control her entire life, for a woman it is unrestricted access to his resources, exclusive rights to his body and pull him away from his family shenanigans to hers and hers only. Verse of the day:  James 5:17-18 NIV‬ Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. When we were first introduced to this scripture in church, we were told it was about signs and wonders performed by a certain powerful man who graced the surface of this earth over some 2000 plus years ago. This led us to go in search of mighty men of God who people perceived could perform signs and wonders. Jesus when He lived next door to us humans made reference to how powerful Elijah was. So why would we think ourselves a match for Elijah's anointing? Someone who called down fire like Sango Olukoso(god of thunder)in the Yoruba land(a tribe in Nigeria)?  There's certainly no way an ordinary me can do what Elijah did in his time we think to ourselves. Scripture:James 5:16 NIV‬ Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. When i first read this scripture in 2021 i thought God wanted me to run off to my friends and tell them every bad thing that i did or I'd done to hurt them or someone else in my entire life.. And my! You guessed right i acted upon my puny thinking *sobs*  I used this scripture as an excuse to vent to all and sundry, with the hope that I'd be free afterwards. I only ended up exposing what i ought to have kept a secret to people who went and ratted me out.  I did learn,but i learnt the hard way. Now what does James 5:16 truly mean? What has the Holy Spirit to say about this scripture? Let's unpack this shall we?
